Awesome October
We are in full-swing in 5th grade and eagerly anticipating a busy month in October. We get off to a quick start with a late start day on October 3rd followed by a field trip to the HighGround on October 4th to visit the monuments and learn about America's involvement in foreign wars. Please remember to have students dress for the weather and bring a small tablespoon of soil in a plastic baggie to deposit on the Dove Mound that day.  We'll return to enjoy the 4th grade Ag Day celebrations on Oct. 5th.  The second week brings parent-teacher conferences on October 8th and 11th from 3:30 to 6:30.  Watch the mail for your child's conference time as well as information about signing up for Kids' Club.  The book fair will also be in the building during this time and will be open from October 4th to the 11th.  The busy second week will come to an end with a day off of school on October 12th.

After our return, we have a late start again on October 17th and the start of Kids' Club on the 18th.  Our Elementary Family night will be held on October 23rd.  Please look for information to come home with your child on that night.  Picture retakes will take place on Oct. 24th.  Our first holiday will be celebrated on Halloween, Oct. 31st, with a trick-or-treat trip to the healthcare center and Halloween parade at the end of the day.  Please remember that costumes should be school appropriate and able to be enjoyed by young students and the older residents of the care facility.

Please watch for more important dates as the year goes on.  Every month will have an updated list of important events and dates that can be found right here on our class homepage.

Throughout the year students will receive flyers for book orders.  If you wish to order for your son or daughter, you may send cash, make a check payable to Scholastic Book Clubs, or or online using a credit or debit card. This card can be used throughout the entire year to order online at www.scholastic.com/bookclubs. Our online class code is HMMZR.

If there are any questions or concerns throughout the year about upcoming events, homework assignments, or classroom happenings, please continue to check back on our homepage as it is updated each month. You can also contact me directly:
